COVID considerations
Masks are not required at TCZF 2026, but are strongly recommended. We will have both N95 and surgical masks freely available at the entrance to the fest. We’ll also have CO2 monitors to provide information about the air quality in the workshop room and the main exhibit space.
We encourage everyone to test before the event, especially if traveling to Minneapolis, and request that you not attend TCZF if you test positive for COVID or are feeling ill.
TCZF 2026 Kickoff Reading
We’re hosting a pre-fest kickoff reading next Friday Feb 6th! Nine zinesters will share their heartfelt, funny, sad, and/or horny stories—we’ll have the full range of human experience on display. 🎭 Come immerse yourself in emotions that aren’t terror or despair. 😬
Thank you to Odd Mart for hosting us! The address is 2520 Lyndale Ave S in Minneapolis. We’ll start getting set up at 5:30 pm, we’ll start the reading at 6:30 (sharp!), and wrap it up by 8-ish.
Due to safety concerns, we’re not sharing the names of zinesters on social media or our website in advance, but rest assured, it’s a terrific lineup!!!
Programming during the fest
We’ll have three sessions during the fest, all in the RKMC room on the second floor (where the fest is!).
- From 11 am–noon, there’ll be a workshop, “Introduction to Collage” with allison anne.
- In this workshop, collagist & zinemaker allison anne will share an introduction to collage as a medium & technique that can be used in many types of creative projects, including zines. Each participant will get started on a project of their own. Materials will be supplied, and you are welcome to bring additional personal ephemera such as ticket stubs, photos, and clippings for your own use.
- From 12:30–1:30 pm, a panel titled “Building Community with Zines.”
- Join moderator E. Joy Mehr and guests Blue Moreno (of Reclaimed Pages, a Minneapolis-based BIPOC zine fest), Casper Warren (local artist and organizer), and Zach McKee (artist/volunteer/digital community moderator) as we discuss how to build community using ZINES!
- From 2-3 pm, a workshop by Kyle Tran Myhre titled “Zines as Narrative Interventions.”
- Everyone is called to show up in this moment, not just zine-makers. But it’s worth thinking critically about what the zine community is uniquely positioned to offer. In this interactive workshop, we will explore the concept of “narrative interventions,” how artists and creatives can use the platforms we have access to to (1) disrupt harmful narratives about issues, places, and people, and (2) cultivate counter-narratives. From anti-ICE whistle zines, to know-your-rights handouts, to many other examples, we’ll dig into the power and possibility of zines as containers not just for self-expression (though that’s important!), but for solidarity too.
