Zine Scene Reading Series

Zine Scene Reading Series

Join us for our second event in the Zine Scene Reading Series at Minneapolis Central Library on January 16 at 5 pm. This reading will feature several artists showing off their work, and our featured artist, Carolyn (she/her/hers), has chosen the theme MUSIC! Carolyn will be reading, and leading a zine workshop at the end of the evening based on Ellen O’Grady’s “Cups.”

We cannot require masks, but they are heavily encouraged and will be provided by Covid Aware TC. The space is wheelchair accessible.

TCZF 2022 Begins!

TCZF 2022 Begins!

This year’s zine fest is a little different, once again.

First of all, in partnership with Hennepin County Library, we are hosting a series of in-person and virtual zine workshops. There is still room in some workshops to register HERE.

Then, on Friday night at 7pm CT, be sure to watch our annual zine reading on our YouTube channel.

Next, we have gathered a list of zinesters and where to find them, so you can check out their amazing work. Just click HERE for the directory.

And finally, share your own work in our hashtag fest using #TCZF2022. Even better, share your work based on our daily prompts. Make a small zine each day of the fest and share on social media!

Free Zine-Making Kits!

Thank you to our partners at Hennepin Co Library for providing these zine kits. While supplies last, you can pick up a kit that contains instructions, materials and ideas to get you started on your zine-making journey (or to continue it).

You even get a fancy TCZF 2021 bookmark and button!

Pick up your kit at Minneapolis Central, Hosmer, or East Lake Library. If you make a zine, share it on social media with #TCZF2021

Day of fest workshops

Day of fest workshops

We’re so excited to announce our workshop schedule! These events will all take place during the fest, Saturday September 24th at the Walker Community United Methodist Church (3104 16th Ave S in Minneapolis). Please join us in discussing these fascinating topics:

  • noon-1 pm “Building Community with Zines in the Twin Cities”: An informal discussion about creating meaningful connections with others in the zine community and beyond.
  • 1:30-2:30 pm “Fancify Your Zine!”: A skillshare where you can learn about how other zinesters make their zines visually interesting, whether with deluxe bindings or specialized printing or unique folding techniques. Bring your own work and share how you fancy up your own publications!
  • 3-4 pm “The Zine-ification of Roleplaying Games”:  Roleplaying games originated in Midwestern garages but grew into an industry of impenetrable accessories and expensive hardcovers. Today, zinesters are reclaiming the genre with online distribution, minimal production values, and varied genres. Come learn about roleplaying games, browse books, and even play a short game!
